Identity

This is where you live
On this sidewalk
In this chair
Among these people
Wherever it is you actually are

This is who you are
With these thoughts
Eating this burrito
Making these minute by minute decisions
Doing exactly whatever it is you are doing

This is what you are
Temporarily animated matter
Atoms somehow made conscious
Not separated by the boundaries you think you are
Not different from other atoms
Unique but not different from the other conscious beings that surround you

Yeah, I like it a lot. It's similar to my way of looking at things. If you'd like to see my poetry go to http://www.sometimes-ever-after.blogspot.com/. Don't let the flower and butterfly fool you, I still get it. Thanks for your voice! cory

Wonderful! :-)

My favorite words in the poem are 'exactly' because it comes right before 'whatever' which is a nice contrast, and 'temporarily' because I think of it in the sense of 'existing for a duration in time', like 'temporal', which is what everything is doing.
